The second competition day, July 18th, counted with eleven games, and, just like the first day of competition, there were seven games on the women’s competition and four games on the men’s competition.

The women’s competition started early in the morning, at the UMinho Sports Complex, with the victory of the German Sport University Cologne against the Aix-Marseille University, by 3-1. The University Vasile Alecsandri of Bacau played with the Turin Polytechnic, in the in the André Soares Sports Hall. The winning team was the University Vasile Alecsandri of Bacau by 3-1. The University of Valencia disputed a match with the University of Aveiro. The Spanish team ended with the best result, 3-0, at the Lamaçães Sports Hall. Back to the UMinho Sports Complex, the University of Zagreb also had a final result of 3-0 against the University Fan Noli.

At the André Soares Sports Hall happened a very disputed women’s game between the University of Porto who got out of the field with a victory over the University of Munster, by 3-2, after five sets played. The University of Bologna played against the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and won by 3-0, at the Lamaçães Sports Hall. In the afternoon, the University of Minho lost the game to the Hungarian University of Sports Science. The final result was 1-3, at the UMinho Sports Complex.

The men’s competition started by the afternoon with a game between the Nova University of Lisbon against the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, which, after five sets, dictated the victory to the Germany team, by 2-3. The University of Valencia lost by 3-1 to the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, at the UMinho Sports Complex.

Then, it was time for the match between the University of Rostock and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. The result was the triumph of the Germany team, by 3-1. The day ended with the University of Wurzburg victory on the game by 3-1, against the University of Minho, at the UMinho Sports Complex.

On Wednesday, July 19th, the groups phase ends for the women’s teams. The men’s teams still have group phase games until Friday, July 21st.
