Day 5: Competition remains strong

This Thursday, July 20th, the women’s teams disputed the 9th to 15th places on the competition. The men’s competition remains on an intense groups phase until Friday, July 21st. There were seven games played on total.

 

The day started with the women’s competition, the first game being between University of Aveiro and Turin Polytechnic. After five disputed sets, at the UMinho Sports Complex, the winner ended up being the Turin Polytechnic by 2-3. Then it was time for University of Bordeuax to play a match against the University of Fan Noli. After five challenging sets, the French team got out of the field with a victory, by 3-2. The last game of the women’s competition for the 9th to 15th place was between University of Minho and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, which ended with the result of 3-0, victory for the Portuguese team, at the UMinho Sports Complex.

 

On the men’s competition, the afternoon started at the Lamaçães Sports Hall, with a match of the West University of Timisoara with the University of Valencia. The final score dictated a 3-0 victory for the Romanian team. By 16h30, the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek confronted the Nova University of Lisbon. At the UMinho Sports Complex, the winning team was the Portuguese one, who won the game by 0-3. The Western Norway University of Aplied Sciences played a match against the University of Wurzburg, which resulted in a victory for the Germany team, by 0-3, at the Lamaçães Sports Hall. In the game between University of Minho and University of Rostock, at the UMinho Sports Complex, the final score was 0-3.

 

This Friday, July 21st, it’s the last day of the groups phase for the men’s competition. In the women’s competition, the knock-out phase continues.
