Meet Kastenwagen Thea: A family who came to the EUC Volleyball by van

A Germany family decided to come and support the University of Munster, where their daughter plays, on the European Universities Volleyball Championship. The family is driving around some European countries by van, and Braga is being their home during the tournament. Let’s know more about their peculiar history!

1. What motivated you to come to Braga by van to see the European Universities Volleyball Championship?

“Specially two things. The first thing is that we know a lot of the players of University of Munster, especially our daughter and the second thing was to combine it with the trip around the Iberic Islands of France, Spain and Portugal. We started travelling one week before the competition started and we will continue the trip two weeks afterwards, so we have two motivations.”

2. What are you thinking of the event so far? Are you enjoying it?

“Yes! We were very surprised when we arrived on Sunday, July 16th, because we saw so much hard work, a party mood, lots of music and it was a very overwhelming Opening Ceremony. The Parade was great and when they finished at the Praça do Município was amazing. The way the teams were introduced, we really enjoyed it. We also liked the advertising all over the city, we didn’t expect to see it because it’s just an “only students” competition, and so that was very impressive.”

3Is it your first time in Portugal or in Braga?

“As a family it’s our first time in Portugal and in Braga with the van.”

4. Can you tell us more about your trip by van to Braga? How was the trip/the experience?

“Especially this tour, has been very good. We started at Normandia, then we went to Bordeaux. The next stop was Spain and it was very impressive because what you see it’s not the first things you would say when someone asks you about Spain. You have a lot of mountains directly at the coast, it was really extraordinary.”
